I absolutely agree! More power to DOT!
wanderful heart
Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you ought to set up a life you don’t need to escape from. -Seth Godin

O my, how time fly so fast. I haven't updated my blog since October! I hope I am not too late to wish everyone a very Happy New Year!
For 2012, I have 4 travels lined up--Macau, Boracay, Malaysia-Singapore and Kota Kinabalu. But I promised myself not to add anything anymore because part of my resolution this year is to save money =p I am really excited though, because these travels are with my family and my partner. Nothing beats that kind of a vacation <3
Cheers to 2012!

Soloista sa Vigan
When I started traveling in 2005 I always travel with a buddy or a group. I've long envy those travelers who wander alone more so for woman solo traveler like Gael and Izah. I really wanted to experience it for myself and I got to do so for the first time (and hopefully not the last) in Vigan last September 2008.
It was accidental actually and I was alone only for a day. I was supposed to travel with my twin and her friend but because of workload I was not able to join them in the first leg of our itinerary. Hence, an impromptu solo trip :)
I am happy that I was able to have this solo travel in Vigan since it was tourist friendly, safe and can be toured within a day.

webfind wednesday: State of the Internet 2011
Found this link today from Presurfer. Not totally related to traveling but very informative nonetheless. Curious.
The Internet is a strange, huge beast. It is getting bigger, faster and more mobile each day. Ferocious social networks fight each other to be on top and gain more of our attention and personal information. An entire economy is generated from our browsing habits. This is the face of the Internet now.

Boracay annual hiatus…almost
This
gloomy weather stirs my itchy feet for a beach getaway. It makes me dream of a Boracay
getaway soonest but it’ll just have to wait until next year.
Many have said that Boracay is overrated and too touristy but for me, Boracay is able to deliver and meet my expectations of a chillax beach vacation. That’s why setting foot in this island in 2007 gave way to my annual Boracay hiatus plan. The vast white powdery beach is reason enough to warrant such love for this beautiful island and it makes me want to come back for more.

webfind wednesday: UN Volunteers
I discovered this website in 2007. I wanted to do something
more with my idle time but don’t want to follow a particular schedule to
volunteer. Thus, discovering onlinevolunteering.org
was a blessing for me. I was once an English-Filipino translator for a website
designed for community-based entrepreneurs. The real challenge was to find the
right Filipino translation for accounting and business terms! It was fun and I
learned a lot from it.

How to get an NBI clearance
The only requirement I needed to complete before applying for a China visa was an NBI clearance. I had been putting it off for several months because of work and school load, which I totally regret after my arduous NBI clearance application experience. It was such a major hassle that took 9 hours to finish plus I had to file a leave of absence just for it.
Because of the new system, every application is treated as a new application. Your old NBI clearance (clearance before July 2011) is of no use since they don't have a renewal process anymore.
Hopefully, this post can shed light on what to expect when applying for an NBI clearance these days.
