Boracay annual hiatus…almost

This gloomy weather stirs my itchy feet for a beach getaway. It makes me dream of a Boracay getaway soonest but it’ll just have to wait until next year.

Many have said that Boracay is overrated and too touristy but for me, Boracay is able to deliver and meet my expectations of a chillax beach vacation. That’s why setting foot in this island in 2007 gave way to my annual Boracay hiatus plan. The vast white powdery beach is reason enough to warrant such love for this beautiful island and it makes me want to come back for more.

2007

2007 was my first Boracay experience. Needless to say I was instantly smitten by this island. I was with my travel buddies Ezra and Ethel. We stayed at Serena Del Sol in Station 1. Our room only costs P1,200 per night good for 3 persons. It was a real value for money with 2 double beds, hot and cold shower, TV, A/C and a fridge. Unfortunately it is now replaced by other establishments but the same area still offers budget accommodation.

2008

2008 with dear Gracy. On this trip, we stayed at Microtel located at Diniwid beach. Yes, it is a bit expensive (at P2,500 per night for 2) compared to our previous accommodation but it was a very nice upgrade especially if you visit Boracay during the monsoon season where rain frequents the night. Our evenings were mostly spent hanging out at the Microtel lobby, enjoying the free WiFi and unlimited servings of coffee, swimming at the pool and the never ending photo ops. For this year, we also opted to just chill and have a steady time at Boracay’s white sand expanse, strolling from end to end unmindful of the sun’s tanning effect.

Asian Spirit is now Zest Air & the Boracay sand castle is not allowed anymore.

2009 is a bust. Boracay annual hiatus almost a success because I failed to visit Boracay for reasons I can’t remember. Hopefully, this will not happen again.

2010

2010 with office mates. Again, we booked our accommodation at Microtel because we had GCs and this is part of the company where we work. I also contacted a tour guide, Kuya Niño (+639158722855) to help me with logistics to make our IT possible. Having a tour guide helped a lot since we only need to contact one person to arrange our activities which included helmet diving, island hopping, ATV, and zorbing. The prices given to us were also lower compared to the ones I’ve gathered online but please note that prices vary depending on how large the group is. 2010 was more on the activities you can do in this beautiful island, which is a lot! (I really wish I can try paraw sailing and cliff diving in my future visit)

2011

2011 was extra special because I got to experience Boracay with my siblings and housemates. This time we stayed at White Beach de Boracay located at Station 1 (+639054732200; approx. P2,000 per night for 4). It is located at the 2^nd level of Yellow Cab, a perfect location fronting the beach. We were blessed with a sunny weather, perfect way to enjoy the sand and seas. How I wish I didn't have a final exam which cut my vacation from 4 to 3 days.

For 2012, I have yet to book my tickets but I am looking forward to a trip with my partner in May.
